Weekend Inspiration #62

There's nothing like coming home and finding treats from Australia (I do like a man with a plan) and a Phryne Fisher book in the mailbox. But best of all is the book Tales from Sparrowdale" by Sunday O'Sullivan. Perfect summer reading.

Magstræde in Copenhagen

The tiny (but long) cobblestoned street Magstræde in Copenhagen is such a gem and I take every opportunity to stroll through it on my way home. I did so today and after taking the first picture I was surprised to see well up to 50 tourists on bicycles passing through while the guide shouted to them: Can you smell it, someone are cooking a pork dish." It made me smile but yes, the smell coming from the tiny restaurant truly was delicious.

Yellow Suede Loafers

I haven't done any summer sale shopping but did succumb to these loafers from EccoEcco is growing on me. I think they design more contemporary shoes now and their ballerinas have seen me through summer for the past years. Since I usually dress in monochrome colours I like a pop of colour in my choice of footwear and handbagsI think you can say it's become my trademark style.

Sunday Strolling in Copenhagen II

I'm trying to establish some kind of routine when it comes to making the most of my weekends - but as usual "rules" don't play that well with me. However, when I do get out on my Sunday strolls around Copenhagen I thoroughly enjoy it. Here's what caught my eye yesterday - and I made it back home to Christianshavn just in time to avoid a major downpour.

Hey Summer, what is wrong with you?

Brunch in Pouring Summer Rain

Woody Allen once said (I think it was in Play It Again, Sam) that "Rain washes memories off the sidewalk of life." If that's true today's summer downpour managed to erase everything. But who cares about getting wet - I enjoyed a lovely brunch with my beautiful friend Alina confiding in her that the only man  for me is someone with a coffee farm in Africa (and me wearing the typical Martha Gellhorn outfit of khaki pants, white button down shirt and red lipstick) Yes, I might be inspired by Out of Africa - sigh, if only I was as courageous as Martha Gellhorn :-)

Refuge by the Canal

Summer has definitely arrived (I'm not complaining) and today I had to seek refuge by the canal with my book (I've got all kinds of great reads lined up for this summer) and cool drinks to get some fresh air. My building is being renovated and is covered in plastic so you can't really breathe. Having the canal and water so close by really is a godsend.

When I came home I noticed bright light in my hall and saw they had removed the plastic from my kitchen window -  Helllllooo light, good to have you back...  Now I only need to clean up all the dust and dirt which flew in when I optimistically opened one of the windows. Will this circus ever end?? ;-)
